THE HOLLY and the IVY

Our connection with holly and ivy goes back before the carol we sing at Christmas, which was written in the1700’s, to our pagan/celtic origins before Christianity arrived on our shores.

Not only is it used as greenery to decorate our houses but is a good source of nectar and food for birds and butterflies, especially the ‘blues’.
