Belonging to the World Church

The primary objective of the United Reformed Church’s Belonging to the World Church programme is to create opportunities for mutual learning and enrichment, and in particular exposing people in URC congregations to stories from our overseas partners in ways which are meaningful to the congregation

Amongst its many achievements it has:

• Exposed people to situations quite different to their own
• Enabled people to discover new ways of being church
• Introduced people to customs and practices of communities they minister to
• Deepened solidarity with Commitment for Life and other overseas partners

The world global partner for Eastern Synod of the URC is the Uniting Presbyterian Church of South Africa, Presbytery of Zimbabwe. The URC Eastern Synod Moderator, Rev Paul Whittle, visited Zimbabwe in August 2011. He participated in the Budiriro Presbyterian Church Sunday morning worship. Through the same programme a Rayleigh church member, Robert Dart, visited Budiriro on a Synod exchange in December 2012.
